Commercial and other metal buildings have long been an overlooked use for the BIBS system. Like residential applications, it offers the same “perfect fit” benefits, only within a commercial-use building.
Growth of the metal building market provides another opportunity to realize the many benefits of the BIBS system. It offers a fast and more cost effective way to insulate commercial-use buildings, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, metal-framed residential houses, or even “barndomindiums” (horse barns with apartments or houses built into the structure.)
In metal framing applications, the BIBS system easily installs by gluing the fabric to the face of the metal stud. It’s quick, easy, and an affordable way to dramatically increase the R-value, sound control, and energy efficiency of any metal framed building. First, the BIBS fabric is glued to the front of the “C” perlins or metal studs then allowed to cure for 30 minutes to 4 hours. After the fabric has cured to the metal framing, approved loose fiber insulation is blown into place. The BIBS system has been successfully installed in 1,000s of metal buildings, but many overlook the system simply because they are not aware the system is a viable and affordable option.
Steel studs are hollow making it more difficult to fit other types of insulation into the assembly. This is where the flexibility of the BIBS system makes it the ideal insulation solution. The BIBS system installs neatly into any size, depth, or width – and despite the hollow nature of the metal stud cavity, it installs without costly voids or air gaps. The BIBS system fills even the most unusual cavities, including C-Purlin and C-Girt Structural Steel, with a consistent density or “blanket” of fiberglass blowing wool, With the BIBS system, you don’t worry that the entire wall cavity is properly insulated to the desired R-factor. A simple density check confirms the R-value.
